About Emmitt Plant
From humble beginnings back in 1979, Emmitt Plant now manages over 1000 pieces of plant and operates out of 3 depots in the following locations; Ipswich, Suffolk, Diss, Norfolk and Corby, Northants. With Emmitt Plant’s vast experience in the industry, they’ve gained a reputation for providing fantastic levels of customer service to a diverse range of customers in both the civil engineering and construction industries.
Thanks to Emmitt Plant’s commitment to reinvesting in plant and spending time serving their customers, they saw great expansion across their fleet. As much as this growth was good news for the business, it began to present some problems. The hire management system they had in place was only providing them with basic functionality, completing everyday tasks became very time consuming especially as they had to use numerous programmes for different areas of the business, one for hire and another for the Workshop.
Luke Findlay, Director at Emmitt Plant said, “Customers always want more from suppliers and we were determined to provide exactly that. We wanted to become more efficient in the way we work so decided to look for an alternative hire management system. Our previous hire system was starting to slow us up, with its limited functionality and we didn’t feel that future development was going to meet our needs. We needed a system that could grow with our business”.
When it became apparent that Emmitt needed a new hire management system, they put together a list of requirements that the software provider must meet;
- The system needed to be user friendly and provide the capability to multi-task (using various parts of the system at one time).
- There had to be a dedicated, in-built Workshop module.
- Business Intelligence Dashboards and a comprehensive reporting suite were a must.
- The provider must have a reputation for fantastic levels of customer support.
- The chosen product must integrate with their Exchequer accounts package and be able to grow with the business.

Emmitt Plant are now enjoying the ability to easily track and drill down into their assets and customer information and the fact that they can now raise quotes and contracts quickly with minimal effort. The hire desk has seen a lot of benefit since installing inspHire. With all information now stored in one place, customer queries have become easier to solve and the level of customer service has improved even further.
It’s not just the Emmitt Plant team that are reaping the benefits of inspHire. “Many of our key customers have noticed the change in the service we provide, with the ‘what’s out where report’ receiving plenty of compliments”.
